State & Local Policy Analysis
In 2022, we advised a leading New York-based private equity firm and its European-based portfolio company, a manufacturer of artificial turf for sports facilities, during an acquisition in Texas. Our analysis revealed that policy-driven pressures on municipal bond issuance for school sports facilities in Texas - which were a key source of demand for the target company’s product - were cyclical, not secular. In addition, our assistance helped the client appreciate a substantial funding boost directed to public K-12 schools from the 2021 American Rescue Plan, which had not been fully factored into the target’s financial projections. Due in part to the successful Texas acquisition, the portfolio company was sold in December 2023.
